Kim Jong-un Jams South Korean GPS navigation signals, fired short rage missiles

North Korea has fired a short range missile into the sea and tried to jam South Korean GPS navigation signals, Seoul officials said.

This came hours after the United States, Japanese and the South Korean leaders pledged to work together to prevent Kim Jong-un from advancing its nuclear and missile programmes.

Officials said the attempted GPS jam did not cause any disruptions to the South Korean military, aviation and telecommunication systems.

It was reported that not more than one hundred and thirty fishing boats had problems with their navigation systems and some were forced to return to their ports.

The South Korea’s Defense Ministry called the jamming attempt a provocation that threatens the public safety and military operations in the South.

South Korea immediately warned North Korea to stop the jamming efforts or face the consequences.

Kim Jong-un also fired a surface to air missiles over the Korean waters, three days after it launched a projectile that hit land in its northeast, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

North Korea has launched a number of short-range missiles and other projectiles since the start last month of annual South Korea-US military drills, because it views the US military drills in the Korean Peninsula  as a rehearsal for invasion.

Kim Jong-um has also repeatedly threatens South Korea and the United States of a nuclear strike.
