Eko Electricity Distribution Company announced that beginning from today there will be one month power rationing in all Lagos Island area. These includes Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Ajah.
The company’s General Manager in charge of Corporate Communications, Mr. Godwin Idemudia, said the rationing was to enable the Transmission Company upgrade Transmission Line from 132kv to 330kv.
He said the upgrade will take three to four weeks to be completed. the Lekki Transmission Injection Sub-station, which feeds most of the areas will be affected by the power rationing and therefore completely shut down.
He further explained that in order to ensure that the areas are not completely out of power supply during the duration of the upgrade, alternative power supply arrangement would be made through back feeding operation to the areas from Alagbon Transmission Injection Sub-station, via Ijora.
He also appeals to customers to show understanding and bear with the situation during the period of upgrade.
