Mohammed Anwaar, a controlling lover and boyfriend has been jailed for controlling his girlfriend’s social life telling her what to wear, what to eat and forcing her to exercise.
Mohammed Anwaar told his girlfriend Gemma Doherty that he didn't like the way her body looks and showed her pictures of women’s bodies telling her she didn’t look as good as them.
girlfriend Gemma Doherty also alleged that boyfriend Mohammed Anwaar also restricted who sees her.
Mohammed Anwaar pleaded guilty to the charge of controlling and coercive behavior along with 9 other counts of assault. The crime to which Mohammed Anwaar is guilty carries a maximum prison sentence of 5 years,
Mohammed Anwaar was therefore jailed for two and a half years after the court heard his plead mood.
Prosecutor Nicola Quinney said Anwaar had held a knife to Miss Doherty’s throat, asking her if she wanted him to kill her, and saying he wasn’t scared of a life sentence. During the attack, Miss Doherty’s son Ethan, three, was hiding under the bed.
Judge Julian Goose QC told Mohammed Anwaar: ‘You plainly have a history of violence.’
