A 27-year-old man who masterminded the kidnap of his sister has been arrested by The Lagos State police command.
Chiogozie Egegonye planned the kidnapping of his sister with his childhood friend, Michael Oluchukwu and demanded for a ransom of 300, 000 Naira (less than a thousand dollar)
Chiogozie Egegonye who pleaded guilty after the police arrested him said he planned the kidnap of his sister Franca because she was stingy.
Chiogozie Egegonye said her sister is a rich woman, who doesn’t like to give anyone money.
Michael Oluchukwu is Chiogozie's accomplice to the crime, he acted to the masterminded script of Chiogozie by sending a text message to Chigozie’s sister asking her to pay a sum of 300,000 or else her and her children will be kidnapped and killed in 12 hours.
France who feared for her life and that of her children called the number back pleading and saying she could only afford 50, 000 {less than 150 dollars}
Chiogozie and his accomplice agreed to the 50, 000 Naira, Chiogozie then sent his sister his account details {First Bank Account 3034268561 with the name Chigozie Egegonye}
Franca who had not yet paid the ransom before her and her 4 children went missing since April 2016.
The Nigerian police used the account and phone number to track down the suspects who were then arrested.
The mastermind, the victim’s brother said he didn’t kidnap his sister. He said his sister and her husband are very rich and they always quarrel.
He said after the threat of kidnapping, her sister had used the opportunity to run away from her husband’s house.
Chiogozie Egegonye said he blamed himself for everything that happened. He said he is now repentant.
