Former Aston Villa footballer dies after being hit by a police stun gun


Dalian Atkinson was a former striker for the Aston Villa football club. He was hit by a police stun gun in Telford, Shropshire at about 1:30 am, August 15, 2016.

48 years old Dalian Atkinson was pronounced dead after he suffered a cardiac arrest at about 3:am, after he was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital.


Dalian Atkinson was a top flight striker in the 1990s, former team-mate Ian Taylor, said: "Just heard news re my old team mate Dalian. Deepest condolences to his family. Only spoke to him last week as well. Sad sad news

Another former player, Tony Daley, who played for Aston Villa at the same time as Mr Atkinson, tweeted: "Devastating news...RIP Dalian."
