Former footballer Dalian Atkinson strangled father before being hit 5 times by an electric stun gun



Dalian Atkinson's brother said Dalian threatened to kill their father before he was Tasered by police.

Dalian Atkinson attacked his 85 year old father, Ernest, at his home on Monday before police were called to the scene.

Dalian strangled his aged father before the police hit him  5 times with a 1000 volt electric stun gun. 

The 48 year old former footballer died 90 minutes later at the hospital; he was said to have suffered cardiac arrest

According to Dalian Atkinson's relatives, he was suffering from a number of health issues and had a weak heart.

Mr Atkinson’s elder brother, Kenroy, who is 53 years old said he had undergone dialysis for kidney failure and was not in his right state of mind.

Mr Kenroy further said his brother had lost it; he was in a manic state and depressed. Mr kenroy said he got their dad by the throat and said he was going to kill him. Mr Kenroy said the family is devastated and heartbroken.
