It has been discovered that a 30 year old Vietnamese woman who claimed she had been hit by a train actually paid her friend to cut off her foot and a section of her arm as part of an insurance scam, the police said.
Following 3 month of investigation, the police said it has been discovered that she had paid a friend, named as "Doan Van D a sum of $2,200 to cut off her limbs and slightly cut off part of her arm in May.
The police said the woman connived with her friend to claim more than $150,000 from her insurance company.
The police also said that after her friend Doan Van D had cut of her limbs and part of her arm, Doan Van D then called an ambulance and pretended to discover her injured on a railway in Hanoi.
The 30 year old woman was then quickly taken to the hospital where doctors concluded it would be impossible to re-attach her limbs.
The police said it was a shame because it's impossible for her to claim the money now that it has been established it was a self inflicted injuries. The police further said now she has suffered a huge loss by losing both her hand and foot.
The police then said her case should send great warning to people who also want to attempt health insurance fraud at the detriment of their health.
