Indian police have launched an investigation into the death of a 13 year old girl who died after undertaking a religious fast for 68 days.
The Police is now interrogating the girl's parent. The police said they want to know if the 13 year old was forced to under take the fast.
The deceased parents insisted she voluntarily fasted as prescribed in Jainism, one of the world's most ancient religions.
Reports had it that the deceased teenage girl lived for 68 days on boiled water. She passed on 2 days after she called off her fast.
The parents have been booked under culpable homicide by causing the 13 year old death by negligence. The parents insists their deceased daughter undertook the religious fast voluntarily.
