President Buhari bows to pressure orders sale of 2 presidential jets


The federal government has advertised the sale of two aircraft in the presidential fleet after been criticized by Nigerians. The fleet is believed to hold about 10 airplanes.

Garba Shehu, the president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, hinted in September that the number of aircraft in the fleet would be reduced.

On Tuesday, the Office of the National Security Adviser advertised the sale of two airplanes. The advert, published on page 35 of Tuesday’s edition of This Day Newspaper, said the aircraft up for sale were Falcon 7x and Hawker 4000. The advert detailed the specification of the planes as well as their performance levels, indicating that they were in pretty good condition.
