👀

Joseph Ligon has been jailed for 63 years now has been in prison since he was 15 years old. Joseph who is now 79 years is believed to be the oldest juvenile lifer in the world.

He was sentenced for life in the fifties for stabbing two people to death a claim Joseph Ligon has always denied.

Joseph in the fifties was an illiterate and was part of a gang of boys who went on the rampage in
1953, stabbing eight people – Ligon says he stabbed a man, but not one of the two who died.

Joseph Ligon said during the persecution the authorities persuaded him to plead guilty to the murder charges, but when he did as they have persuaded, they sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The authorities are trying to release on parole, Joseph Ligon who has been in the Philadelphia prison for 63 years now. However, 79 year old Joseph stunned the world when he turned down the chance of being released on parole.

Joseph Ligon claims he should be freed outright instead of been released on parole. He says he did not commit the two murders for which he has served 63 years. and says he should be released outright, instead of going before the parole board.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in January that juveniles sentenced to life in prison should have the possibility of parole.

Bradley Bridge of the Defender Association of Philadelphia told the court that Joseph has been in prison long enough, and that he doesn't want to be on probation or parole. He just wants to be released.’
