Man with HIV who had sex with 104 women and girls as young as 12 years old is finally going to jail


A verdict is expected this week for  Eric Aniva, a man with HIV who claim he had sex with 104 women and girls.

Eric Aniva is a sex worker from Malawi, he was arrested in July on presidential orders after he admitted he his HIV positive and that he had unprotected sex with 104 women and girls, some of the girls are as young as 12.

Eric Aniva said he was hired by relatives of the girls to have sex with them as part of an initiation before they entered puberty. Eric Aniva also claimed to have sex with newly bereaved widows as part of a cleansing ritual.

His interview with BBC sparked outrage in the country, this led the Malawi's president, Peter Mutharika condemning him for committing evil acts and ordering his arrest.

2 women have come forward to testify against Eric Aniva during his trial with a verdict expected on Friday. If  he is convicted, he faces a five year jail term.
