Police were called at around 3pm after a 28 year old Joe McKnight, former NFL player was shot dead by a 54 year old man in a angry close road rage incident.
He was found with gunshot wounds and was given CPR but died at the scene. When the police arrived, a witness told the police that two vehicles came to stop at this location, side by side, and the two men started arguing at the intersection with traffic lights, then 54 year old man, Ronald gasser pulled a gun and shot the 28 year old former footballer and shouted: "I told you don't you f**k with me". He then fired the shot the second time.
The 54 year old shooter did not leave the scene after the 28 year old died, he waited for the police to arrive and handed over the gun. He was then arrested.
Joe McKnight played college football for USC, and then went on to play for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. McKnight was currently playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.
Roughriders president and CEO Craig Reynolds issued a statement saying: "We are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Joe McKnight. "Losing a member of our Rider family this way is an unthinkable occurrence. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s family, teammates and coaches."
